10 Ideas for Sparking Diversity Dialogue

1) Mine for new problem-solving approaches. If problem solving at your organization is routinely dominated by one approach or faction, try this. Ask every group member to write down a solution to the same hypothetical problem on a sheet of paper. Collect the answers, read them aloud, and discuss ideas that stray from the usual approach. Diversity & Inclusion 2.0: A 21st Century Approach

I had the wonderful opportunity over the last month to conduct two train-the-trainer sessions in Michigan (May 13-15) and New York (June 2-4) with a total of 60 participants. Hello Steve,

I attended your workshop here in Seattle last month for Boeing, IDS Diversity Council. You are an exceptional presenter; you had each audience member engaged, and I could also see how passionate you are about the topic you shared. When you shared with the audience the reason why you were teaching diversity and inclusion; I was in tears!!! I hope our council will be able to have you come next year to speak at our site.

Hello! How are you doing? I can see by the calendar notices on the site that you have been off-your-feet busy lately. It seems like a long time since June in Queensbury NY. I have a few questions:

Have you yet forwarded the trainer notes to the Governor's Office of Employee Relations as promised during the T-T-T program? If you have, GOER has not yet distributed them to participants and I will ask about that with them.

I appreciate being connected through the What If Network (WIN) site, and would like to see more of us using it to share how we are doing in implementing the Unintentional Intolerance program in our agencies. There is an issue that I have however: several of the videos posted to the WIN website cannot be viewed - including the "Shorter, Smaller Perspective" video you posted. Is there a way that we can access these videos?

If these videos are available to me on the WIN site, can I use them in training programs - or are they posted for our own development only? I am particularly interested in using the "uh-oh Intro" clip.

Thanks for the kind words. I enjoyed my time at the "Egg." You were all a blast. I just spent three days with 26 trainers from GOER in a train-the-trainer session. We had a blast and learned a lot as well. Take care and keep in touch.

Hi SSSteve,

I'm always confused about using these group things so I hope I did this correctly. I do think I registered for the GOER group.
The training was wonderful. I hope that at least the Albany trainers can get together soon to practice and discuss. I am not a trainer per se, although I do NCBI diversity training. Within the Ed. Dept.
I'm not sure if I'll have a chance to present D&I but hopefully will be able to work with trainers in other state agencies.
