What if? Network for Diversity and Inclusion

An open mind is a terrible thing to close.

I've just read the book and it's excellent and was wondering if anyone has used it yet in your diversity dialogues? I've also sent a note to Steve suggesting he put the chapters on DVD so we could have him deliver the story, then we'd facilitate the discussion. What do you think?

You are so right! Steve's book is an excellent tool for trainning sessions. My sister used it to train her staff of school bus drivers and the response she recieved back was awosome. The question and answer section she found most helpful. I found it helpful in every day to day life, I mean we do meet and greet all type of people not of our race daily, this is a nice book to understand and want to know more about these people you meet. The short stories tend to keep your attention thru laughter and truth.

What a great idea Gloria! Thanks for the kind words about my book. I have to ask my publisher about putting some of the stories on DVD but that's a grat idea as well - just need to find the time to do it.

Steve, I've mentioned it to several folks and I think people would jump at it. Years ago when I was with IBM, I facilitated a class that had the content on tape, a leaders guide with questions and we'd stop at specific points to discuss. The beauty was, the content was always delivered in a consistent fashion. I'll look forward to this product!

We've used Steve's book in both Change Agent courses and in Staff meetings; both very successful (and it led to attendees wanting a copy of the book). Having the chapters on DVD adds another teaching method and addresses diverse learning styles...what a great idea!

Hi Gloria:
We have used the stories in "What If" in team meeting and answer the questions during the meeting to start discussions on D & I. I also like the DVD suggestion as it could result in the message being presented in a standard method. Take care.

With permission, I drew from this book in writing one of my monthly diversity columns here at Texas Instruments and got good reviews.
